April * May * June

Believe it or not Spring is just around the corner in spite of the 2 feet of snow in our yards.
We sure are looking forward to warm sunny days, bright colored flowers and
putting the shovels and snow blowers away!

DR. DAN’S CORNER:

Don’t forget that with Spring comes different activities like yard work. Remember to start new activities slowly with short episodes so you don’t aggravate your weak links in your spine. Wear your trochanter belt or lumbar belt during the activity. Take it off when you are done. Also make sure you are doing your walking and spinal stretching exercises that I have given you (probably years ago!!) that you were suppose to be doing daily!! Do the spinal stretches for 2 weeks before starting your new activities. Remember to use your legs when lifting and keep the item lifted close to your body. Don’t be afraid to ask for help!! Raking pine needles or grass is hard on your low back so remember to wear your lower back support if you need one and do it in short bursts not all in one day. Please remember I am just trying to save you pain and money by reminding you of all the above. If you need another copy of the stretching exercises or a demonstration on doing them correctly let Sherie know and she will take care of it. There is no charge for this service if you are an active chiropractic patient.

SHERIE’S CORNER:

IS THE KETO DIET RIGHT FOR YOU???

There sure are a lot of diets out there to choose from. Dr. Dan and I have researched the Keto diet and decided that this would work best for the way we both like to eat, without sacrificing too much. Dr. is definitely a big salad, veggie and meat person. Me, I’m the same except I do love my bread, but honestly being on this way of eating for over a month has really been satisfying. Have I cheated, YOU BET! But it’s been easy to get back on track, which has usually been hard for me in the past. We do have some patients on the Keto Plan of eating and we all love to share recipes, so let me know if you have an amazing recipe to share.

Speaking of recipes, I have one to share with you, super easy and delicious. Caprese Egg Casserole. 2 tablespoons olive oil, 2 cups of cherry tomatoes, 8 large eggs, fresh basil to taste, 4 ounces of mozzarella balls, salt and pepper to taste. Preheat your oven to 350. Chop the cherry tomatoes into halves or quarters, Fry up in a skillet with olive oil until the tomatoes have softened somewhat. Set aside. Add eggs to a mixing bowl. Chop up the fresh basil then add that to the eggs. Add salt and pepper. Whisk the eggs together. Pour the eggs into a greased casserole dish. Add the cooked tomatoes and fresh mozzarella balls. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the eggs have completely set. Enjoy!! This recipe is from ruled.me.

They have great Keto recipes, check it out.

CLOSURES:

May 25th – 27th for Memorial Day Weekend.
